Permaculture, a basic course, and also the option to earn a Permaculture Design Certificate
Apr 1 - June 8, 2012 Spring 2012
Benjamin Weiss
Permaculture is a design science. It is based on a set of ethics and principles. It is a methodology, or a conceptual framework, not a set of techniques, opinions, or practices. There is, however, a philosophy associated with the permaculture design system, and that is what we call "native science," or the process of integrating fully with our surrounding ecology.
Book Arts: A Creative Journey
Apr 1 - June 8, 2012 Spring 2012
Carol Sexton
In this course we will learn about the creative process as we make an artist journal and explore the spiritual practice of journaling with words and images. Working with beautiful handmade papers, fabrics, and paints, we will learn how to make and decorate our own book covers. Several different methods of making books by hand will be taught.
Exploring Conflict
Apr 1 - June 8, 2012 Spring 2012
Lynda Black
We will explore the meaning of conflict in various contexts, sharing our personal stories and considering the complex role of language in conflict. Throughout the term we will discuss some alternatives to conflict, examine resolution practices, uncover hidden truths about personal conflict, construct applications for the road ahead, and create symbols (collages, paintings, illustrations, etc.) for personal reflection.
